It's December, wow! I'm wrapping up this semester of teaching pastel painting to a group of fearless artists. Many of these women have never even picked up a pastel before, yet have boldly joined me on my first crazy teaching adventure. We started the class back in August learning to draw from various still life set ups. We approached landscapes for several weeks working from reference photos, and then, yes, they even followed me outdoors to paint en plein air! Like I said, fearless!
Although, technically I am the instructor, there's no doubt that I'm the one learning the most throughout this journey. These women have taught me to push out of my little comfy comfort box and do something that I never in a million years would thought I could do, teach! This class has forced me to go back and review the fundamentals of drawing, the basics of color, the building blocks of perspective and to simplify my painting process in order to share it.
But most important, these artists have reminded me to jump in feet first, expand my horizons, reach for the next level. To be FEARLESS!!
